Our parishes have just begun a reading group specifically aimed for younger members of the congregation. We are reading Edward Dowler’s Theological Ethics, a basic introduction to Christian understandings of ethics. Discussions have been about the controversies between Augustine and Pelagius on the nature of Grace and Sin, and on the Christian understanding of the Virtues. In the next couple of weeks we will be discussing differences between Catholic and Protestant understandings of ethics and also the differences between Christian and modern secular understandings of ethics.
After Easter we will be moving on to other material including films and novels.
