Pilgrimage to Camino de Santiago de Compostela |
![]() |
| During the last week of October, we travelled to this ancient pilgrimage site which is also known in English as 'The Way of St James'. Tthis is a collection of old pilgrimage routes which cover all Europe and meet at the shrine of St James. For more than 1,000 years pilgrims have been walking along the Camino de Santiago. Photographs and an account of our pilgrimage are available here. |
Pilgrimage to Walsingham. August Bank Holiday Monday. 31st August. |
![]() |
| This special pilgrimage takes place each year. People travel from all over the country and come together to pray for the sick and handicapped. Walsingham is often referred to as England's Nazareth and we have a special Walsingham cell at the Church where the work of this heartland of the English faith is prayed for on a regular basis. Many events take place at Walsingham including the 'National' - a festive celebration involving churches from the length and breadth of the country. Visit the shrine of Walsingham and see what goes on there. |

Ponder These Things |

| Using Dr Rowan William's book, 'Ponder These Things' as background reading, our Advent study groups have explored ways of reading icons and using them as windows to understanding our full potential through Jesus Christ. This deceptively small book is one you can return to and find new gems to ponder over. Here is a summary of the role icons have played and continue to play in the prayer life of the Church. |
Holy Land Pilgrimage 2008 |
During Lent, some of our parishioners travelled with Fr Tim to see the sights and places we read about in scripture. Here is a photo album of their pilgrimage. |
Epiphany with biscuits |
It was quite a Saturday session. HI Kids got together to make biscuits for Epiphany, played games and talked about the meaning of this special church service. In between games of 'pass the parcel' and 'musical statues' the children learned about the meaning of the gifts the wise men brought to Jesus - gold, frankinsense, and mir. In all, 95 biscuits were prepared for the Feast of the Epiphany and sold to church members. The money was sent to one of our favourite charities in South Africa - Hillcrest. |
| The ancient practice of praying the gospels (Lectio Divina) can be grasped in minutes but often lasts a lifetime. This prayerful approach to reading is becoming more and more popular as individuals discover how remarkable it is at uncovering layers of meaning behind bible passages and how these passages take on a personal and often significant meaning. Learn the four stages of: Reading Reflecting Responding Resting Sessions were held jointly with Holy Trinity at their vicarage in Granville Road. |
Tokens of Trust. |
![]() |
| In the first three hundred years, the church was working out the essentials of Christian belief. She was trying to make sense of the events around Christ's incarnation, passion and resurrection. This process resulted in a series of statements we now know as the Apostle's Creed and the Nicene Creed. These basic statements of belief have proved to be remarkably durable. Despite the many problems that the Church has faced over the centuries the creeds still hold good for most Christian bodies. When you start to look more deeply into the creeds you discover that they are far more than a simple statement of faith - a checklist for regulating religious belief. They show us who and what we can trust in a world where 'trust' is becoming an increasingly rare quality of life. These sessions provide a rare glimpse into another world - one in which our lives, as individuals and together, can be utterly transformed. So how much can we believe today, in an eternally trustworthy, unchanging love, and how can we begin to live in the light of such knowledge? This series of six sessions started later in the evening to give people a chance to relax after work and enjoy some time with their family beforehand. |
