Tuesday Evening Informal Talks

These informal discussion groups happen after the 7.30pm Mass on a Tuesday evening over a cup of tea. All are welcome to Mass and/or the discussion group!

This spring, we are looking at journeys. This is a chance to hear some of the interesting stories our parishioners have to tell about their life and how they come to be where they are now in the Church. Many of us have travelled a great distance in our lives, whether physically or spiritually, and this is an opportunity to share some of the journey.

14 May – 21 May – 4 June – 11 June – 18 June

The first week Mavis (pictured right) tells us about her move from Guyana and her interesting work in a hospital and in a prison. Next week Alice (also right) tells some of her life story. We are very grateful to all those participating for sharing with us something of their life and faith.

During Lent we are looking at Stanley Spencer’s paintings on Christ in the Wilderness as a way into thinking about some important Lenten themes. To help, we are looking at Bishop Stephen Cotterill’s book of the same name. This is a very accessible book with some interesting insights, and we do encourage you to have a look; but do come along whether you hope to read the book or not and share your thoughts.

More information about the paintings is available on the report of the Lent Study Groups.

Previously we have looked at various topics from Ignatian spirituality to our patron, St Luke, and the Marian Hymns.
