In Lent the Archbishops of Canterbury and York wrote to all clergy, asking that parishes join them in praying in the week before Pentecost for the spread of the Gospel throughout our country.

One way they suggest parishes might do this is to spend an hour of silent prayer each day before Christ in the Eucharist. So each evening in the week before Pentecost we will have a holy hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament in one of our three Churches. It will be a bit like the Vigil at the Altar of Repose on Maundy Thursday. Here are the times and venues of our daily prayer vigils:

Tuesday 10^th May at 6.30pm at Holy Trinity

Wednesday 11^th May at 6.30pm at St Paul’s

A new series of concerts has been organised for Thursdays from 8 to 9 pm. Free admission with a retiring collection. Details are below:

Thursday 14th April

The University of London Church Choir and soloists sing music from Restoration England. Composers featured are Purcell, Blow and Humfrey.

Thursday 21st April

Holy Trinity Baroque play works from the French Baroque era on period instruments. Works by Clerambault, Marais and Leclair are included.

Thursday 28th April

The Trinitas Guitar Trio will take us on a musical journey through Spain and South America performing music by Bizet, Villa-Lobos and Granados.

Thursday 5th May

The Boeheme-Warner Duo (flute and guitar) present Travels Through Time with music by Piazzolla, Machado and Molino.

On Sunday 17th April there will be a Taize Service at Holy Trinity at 6pm.

Taize is a short, beautiful candlelit service with music, readings, prayers and time for silent meditation The service lasts around 40 minutes.

The theme of this service will be the Resurrection. All are welcome to come along!

Congratulations

Many congratulations to Mr Sutton and all the staff and students of Greig City Academy for a wonderful Ofsted inspection. The inspectors visited Greig City Academy just before Christmas and they have now published their report, which states that the school is ‘good’ across the board. Here are some quotes from the inspector’s summary of their findings.
